Us enjoying the appetizers at Perry’s Steakhouse in Franklin TN.

This is my first Happy Hour blog in what I hope will be a series of Happy Hour visits.

We sure set the bar high with this first one. Perry’s is a large steakhouse on the edge of what my husband, Mark, and I call McEwenville. It is just north of Whole Foods in Franklin, TN and south of the theaters. There are hundreds of apartments there and a strong commercial center with varied restaurants. Perry’s is on McEwen and is frequently busy when I drive by. Mark and I eat early and don’t love pricey dinners. We are perfect for Happy Hour Specials.

Our waitress was delightful, very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. She was a bit surprised that the delicious seafood stuffed mushrooms were on the Bar Bites menu. And with reason. They were delicious!!  But I am getting ahead of myself.

They call it Social Hour 79. They feature a beautiful selection of small plated food options for $9 each and 5 oz. pours of fantastic wines also for $9. They have various other beverages too, but we enjoyed the very tasty, quality wines. Their bar and bar patio area are both beautifully designed and the seating was very comfortable. Their Happy Hour goes until 6:30 and they do take reservations for it if you are going to sit on the patio. I will be making a reservation next time. As I said, we enjoyed the wines. Mark enjoys a rich red and had the Perry’s Reserve Cabernet, which sells for $18 normally, and I had Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc. Both were delightful and at 5 oz., just the right portion for us.

Our food selection started with bread, a beautiful Italian bread loaf. We ordered the Steak & Tater Totter Bites and the Broiled Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms. Both were beyond amazing!! So delicious. Each had 5 portions that were 2 bites in each portion. The aioli sauce on the steak bites was perfect. We ordered a 3rd plate and it was the Perry’s Famous Pork Chop ‘Bites’. They came with BBQ sauce and house applesauce. They were also good, but not as good as the first 2 plates, to us. They also have an artichoke dip and salmon and sausage. I look forward to trying them.  Back to the bread. It was beautiful and delicious. My husband and I try to eat a low gluten diet and sourdough sits well with us. Some breads are fine for us and some are not. We did eat some of it. This bread was definitely a gluten bread. We would pass on it next time though it sure was good. I might add a vegetable too next time from the main menu or maybe a salad.

We were delighted to have so many protein options and such excellent service. I think it will be a bit tough for us to go try other places when we know how good it can be at Perry’s. We are considering trying the Friday Lunch Pork Chop Special. They serve it until 5:00.

We hope you enjoy your visit when you go!
